Day-By-Day Itinerary
This itinerary can be fully customized; to tailor this package to your specific requirements please call one of our travel specialists at 1-800-22-SWAIN.Day 1 Fly USA to Dubai
Day 2 Welcome to Dubai, United Arab Emirates
On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel by private vehicle.
Glitzy, glam, and over-the-top, this city-state is a fascinating mix of old and new, where flashy shopping malls rise up alongside flavorful old-world souks (outdoor markets).
The United Arab Emirates is a country with both a record-setting building boom (the tallest building in the world will be completed in Dubai in 2009) and a still-vibrant Bedouin culture, one that learned to survive in harsh desert conditions for hundreds of years.
Day 3 Dubai tour
Enjoy a fascinating historical excursion. Visit the magnificent Jumeirah mosque; past modern palaces sprawled along the coast. Stop in Bastakia to admire the old wind-tower houses built by wealthy merchants. Close by stands the 150-year old Al Fahidi Fort. Here, the Dubai Museum records the city's past as an important pearl diving and trading center. Board an Abra (local water taxi) and cross the creek to the modern metropolis with its splendid architecture dwarfing the bustling alleys of your next destination, the gold and spice souks.
Day 4 At leisure, Dubai
With myriad shopping malls, flamboyant hotels, a dizzying array of dining options and hip clubs and bars, Dubai is definitely worth a peek! Spend a few fascinating hours by the creek, watching the dhow (traditional wooden boat) traffic and the abras weave along the waterway while smoking some sheesha. Walk the streets of the tranquil, restored Bastakia area or take a stroll through multicultural Karama or Satwa.
For a different take on this exploding tourism mecca, head to the Heritage Village during Ramadan or the Dubai Shopping Festival and you’ll witness local Emiratis take joy in their songs, dance and traditions. Outside the urban areas are ancient archaeological sites and old fishing villages.
Day 5 Fly Dubai to Male
Transfer to the airport by private vehicle for your onward flight. On arrival, you will be met and transferred by speedboat to your accommodation.
Once known as the ‘Money Isles’ for its plentiful supply of cowrie shells, an international currency in the early ages, this namesake still suits the modern Maldives. Luxurious resorts sparkle on the 70 plus islands that form the Maldives — each one boasting blue seas and swaying palm trees.
Sun, sand and sea, a thousand ‘Robinson Crusoe’ islands, massive lagoons with different depths and infinite shades of blue and turquoise, and dazzling underwater coral gardens; a perfect natural combination for the ideal tropical destination.
Days 6-9 At leisure, Maldives
Snorkel the sapphire lagoons and see why the Maldivian economy is dominated by fishing, or shop at the Singapore Bazaar in Male and immerse yourself in a maze of teahouses and stores selling local handicrafts. For a little culture mixed in with all that fun in the sun, visit a local fishing village, or stroll through the National Museum.
Day 10 Fly Male to USA (Via Dubai)
Transfer by speedboat back to Male and board your flight back to the USA with a change in planes in Dubai.
