Day 1 Fly USA to Cairns (Via Brisbane)

Day 2 Cross The International Dateline

Day 3 Arrive Cairns
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your accommodation in Cairns (approx. 15min drive).

The heart of the tropical north, Cairns offers great access to reef and islands and is a perfect base for exploring the wider region. With 600 day tours departing the city daily there is plenty to do.

Day 4 Great Barrier Reef tour
A trip to the Tropical North would not be complete without experiencing the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. Day trips operate from Cairns and Port Douglas with transfers available from Palm Cove and surrounds. Depending on departure city, vessel options include sailing catamarans from Cairns to large catamarans that leave from Port Douglas that have their own platforms on the outer reef.

Days 5-6 At leisure, Cairns
Cairns is the gateway to Tropical Far North Queensland, a region of contrasts and surprises.  It is home to the Great Barrier Reef, palm-fringed isolated beaches, Kuranda and the Atherton Tablelands, World Heritage listed rainforests and the sun burnt outback. This dynamic area serves as a diverse hub for many attractions and activities of the Tropical North.

Apart from the major tourism attractions of the reef and rainforest, there are many adventure sports such as white water rafting and bungee jumping, as well as other activities such as golf and trail riding. The choice is yours, we can either pre-arrange something for you or the concierge at your accommodation can make some suggestions.

Day 7 Fly Cairns to Adelaide (1 stop)
Transfer from Cairns City to Cairns Airport for your onward flight. Upon arrival in Adelaide, transfer to your hotel.

The capital of South Australia, Adelaide is nestled between the sea and hills. It is a graceful city of wide streets, elegant buildings and parkland. Adelaide is compact and easy to walk around. It is known for its refinement and has a charm and grace that shows in sophisticated wining and dining, and beautiful architecture that has been well-preserved. The state of South Australia is home to some of the freshest food and finest wines in Australia. Adelaide has a reputation for innovative, affordable cuisine which, when combined with local wines, is a memorable experience.

Day 8 Kangaroo Island Adventure
Departing Adelaide, travel by coach through the Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis and board a ferry for the 45 minute crossing to Kangaroo Island. On arrival, settle back in the comfort of your coach and let the scenery slide past on your way to Seal Bay where you will enjoy a guided beach tour among a breeding colony of Australian sea-lions. This really is the experience of a lifetime. Bring your camera!

After lunch at the Vivonne Bay (included), you will be treated to an educational and interactive Birds of Prey ‘Free-Flight’ Presentation. Witness raptor birds such as eagles, hawks and falcons fly freely and touch owls and try having a kookaburra land on your (gloved) hand!

From here we head to Flinders Chase National Park, internationally renowned as a sanctuary for a host of native Australian animals – kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, echidnas, goannas and more. Walk along the rugged southern coastline (on specially constructed walkways) to Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch. The Admiral's Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to confront a spectacular rock arch and a nursery haven for New Zealand fur seals. Watch the fur seals diving, playing or just lolling about on the sun-drenched rocks, warming up again after swimming in the surf.

Your day of discovery ends at the ferry terminal for your return journey to Adelaide (arriving late evening). Today’s excursion includes bus and ferry transport to Kangaroo Island, Park entry fees and a full day coach tour with lunch at a Vivonne Bay Bistro.

The Festival Centre on King William Road is the hub of opera, theatre and orchestra. For visual arts, the Art Gallery of South Australia is a must for its collection of Aboriginal works, Australian 19th century paintings and a collection of Rodins. Several galleries specialize in indigenous art and Melbourne Street is the place for antiques.
