Day 1 Fly USA to Brisbane

Day 2 Cross The International Dateline

Day 3 Arrive Brisbane
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred by private vehicle to Holt Street Jetty to board your launch to Moreton Island.

Moreton Island is a natural wonderland teeming with miles of sandy beaches, freshwater lagoons, rampant wildflowers and prolific birdlife. There is also evidence of the island’s rich history from the ancient shell middens of early Aboriginal settlers to the fortifications leftover from military occupation in 1938. The island was also the site of Queensland’s first and only whaling station, which operated between 1952 and 1962.

Apart from a few rocky headlands, it’s all sand and approximately 95% of the island is national park. Mt Tempest, the highest coastal sand hill in the world, is well worth a trek up. At the northern tip is the Cape Moreton Lighthouse. Built in 1857, it’s the oldest operating lighthouse in Queensland, and is the place to come for an impressive 360-degree view of the island.

Day 4 At leisure, Moreton Island
The island resort is just 75 minutes from Brisbane and is surrounded by crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches and untouched national parks; a natural wonderland waiting to be explored!

With over 75 tours and activities on offer, this island resort is a perfect destination for guests seeking an action packed, educational, nature based or relaxing experience.

The unforgettable experience of hand feeding a pod of wild bottlenose dolphins that visit Tangalooma each evening is by far the favorite activity of our overnight resort guests.

Day 5 Moreton Island to Lamington National Park
Board your launch vessel back to the mainland where you will collect your rental car and drive inland to the National Park. Traveling to the rainforest retreat the road is sealed all the way, and the journey will take under 2 hours.

This is one of the best places in Australia to see and come into close contact with some of mainland Australia's favorite native animals. The fauna you are likely to see here includes wallabies of several species, marsupial possums, platypus, and a huge range of brilliantly colored native parrots.

Days 6-7 At leisure, Lamington National Park
Head out to one of many scenic spots where we have the traditional 'boiling the billy'. If you are more energetic, you can escape for the day on your own, grab a walking map, packed lunch and head for the hills.

Discover hundreds of waterfalls, ancient Antarctic Beech trees and spectacular views of rugged mountain ranges. The rainforests, the bush walks, the vast array of bird life, waterfalls and spectacular views of the rugged escarpment attract people from all over the world.

Day 8 Drive Lamington National Park to Byron Bay
At your leisure, take the drive north along State Highway 90 towards the coast. Around Nergang, where you can choose to stop off, start to head south along Pacific Highway. Nerang is a suburb of Australia's Gold Coast that lies upon the Nerang River. Nerang is the very remnant of those townships that characterize the rural hinterland of the Gold Coast.

Continue south on to Byron Bay. The distance of your trip today is 97 miles and it should take approximately 2.5 hours to drive.

Day 9 At leisure, Byron Bay
Byron Bay is a melting pot of surf culture, alternative philosophies and free-spirited indulgence. Its natural credentials are impeccable – humpback whales cruise past the headland, storms create rainbows on the mountains across the bay, and hang-gliders ride the thermals above the lighthouse.

Architects, designers, craft workers and software engineers have set up shop, grafting their talents and energy amidst this small, relaxed coastal village. Today, Byron Bay is a chic seaside town with glorious beaches, a New Age tinge and loads of style.

Day 10 Drive Byron Bay to the Gold Coast
Heading north from Byron Bay to the Gold Coast will only take an hour.

Days 11-12 At leisure, Brisbane
It is no coincidence that fashion mogul, Gianni Versace, chose the Gold Coast as the site for his flagship hotel, Palazzo Versace.  With its 26 miles of sun-drenched beaches and Mardi Gras atmosphere, the “coast with the most” compliments the Versace vision of finery and fun.  Pamper yourself in this miniature Miami with a visit to a holistic spa, dine at a gourmet restaurant or tee off at one of the areas 40 championship golf courses.

Day 13 Fly Brisbane to Los Angeles
Return your rental vehicle before boarding your departure flight.
