Day 1 Fly USA to Johannesburg Day 2 Arrive Johannesburg They came from far and wide to strike it rich when gold was discovered here in 1886, and the “City of Gold” still pulsates with entrepreneurial energy. Johannesburg is and intriguing, dynamic city of astonishing contrasts, a huge metropolis where opulent wealth and desperate poverty live side by side. A must-see is the Apartheid Museum which takes you on a fascinating, shocking, humbling and ultimately inspiring journey. Day 3 Fly Johannesburg to Timbavati Nature Reserve The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve comprises 53,392 hectares of private land adjoining the Kruger National Park. The reserve came into existence in July 1956, when a group of conservation-minded people who owned game farms on the western boundary of the Kruger Park came together to form the Timbavati Association. Numerous species of game abound, the most famous of which is the “white lion”. Currently, there are over 40 mammal species in the Timbavati including the Big Five of Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant as well as 360 species of bird life. Day 4 On Safari, Timbavati Nature Reserve Day 5 Fly Timbavati Nature Reserve to Sabi Sand Game Reserve The Sabi Sand Reserve was formed in 1950 and comprises many private game farms. Sabi Sand offers a spectacular African safari experience with superb volume of game and quality of sightings. The Sand and the Sabi Rivers supply much-needed water to the region, creating an incredibly bio-diverse wildlife population. The reserve is also situated on a doleritic dyke, which ensures that the resulting soils are high in nutrition, producing one of the best grazing and browsing habitats in southern Africa.
