Accommodation
Built more than 80 years ago, this classic lodge has been
carefully refurbished under the direction of a leading New
Zealand interior designer.
The two-storied lodge mansion retains the charm and design of
the 1930s including large entertaining rooms with open
fireplaces, a timber-paneled dining room and magnificent
timber staircase. Formally a family home, many of the
antiques remain, providing distinctive links to the
mansion's history.
Individually decorated, each spacious Suite has its
own unique charm, most with views over the lake. All have
separate lounge areas, bedrooms and large en suite bathrooms
with shower and spa bath. The Main Suite is a large,
luxurious suite offering panoramic views over the lake,
balcony and en suite bathroom with spa bath. Lake Cottage
Suites are self-contained private suites a short walk
from the lodge itself, each with its own lounge room,
separate bedroom, en suite bathroom with shower and open air
hot tub on deck with panoramic lake views. The owners'
residence, the Lake Villa sits above the lodge where
it enjoys the very best of lake and city views. It can be
booked out by families or groups and offers four bedrooms,
two bathrooms, large kitchen, open dining and living areas
and extensive balcony areas.

Wellington Region
Travel to Wellington and enjoy a backdrop of rolling green
hills and a magnificent waterfront. Wellington was destined
to be New Zealand’s entertainment capital. It is the home
to Te Papa Tongarewa, New Zealand’s national museum; it
hosts the month-long New Zealand International Festival of
the Arts and has more restaurants, bars and cafes per head
than New York City.
Peppers Martinborough Hotel
The heart of the Martinborough wine village
Established in 1882, Peppers Martinborough Hotel is a
historic retreat offering luxury, boutique accommodation in
the heart of one of New Zealand's finest wine growing
regions near Wellington. Martinborough is a quirky little
village, encircled by vineyards and with a majestic square
at its heart. This picturesque wine village lies in the
heart of Wairarapa on the North Island, 75 minutes drive
east of Wellington, and three hours south of Hawkes Bay. The
tiny town (pop. 1300) is hemmed in by 24 wineries, most
within walking distance from the hotel.
Today Peppers Martinborough Hotel offers character, comfort
and old style personal attention making it ideal for an
indulgent escape as part of a vacation. Diners can enjoy
classic country cuisine and a wide range of excellent wines
in the spacious bistrot which spills out under the verandah
onto the historic village square. A cozy open fire keeps
pub-goers warm in the hotel's friendly "local" and the
evening sun goes down in the garden and petanque pitch set
among climbing roses and old fashioned box hedging.
Accommodation
At Peppers Martinborough Hotel choose from sixteen
individually designed guest accommodation rooms to suit your
mood. Indulge in the elegant surroundings of one of our nine
Verandah Rooms, located at the top of the grand flight of
stairs in the original 1882 building. Or take a wander
through the pretty courtyard just beyond the lobby and enjoy
the tranquility of seven spacious Garden Rooms finished in a
restful simple country style.
Whether you choose a historic Verandah Room or the more
contemporary feel of a Garden Room, there's utmost comfort
throughout. Plump armchairs, fine quality bed linen, our
special range of toiletries and of course a very comfortable
bed.
Dining
Martinborough Bar and Bistrot at Peppers Martinborough Hotel
offers fine dining and gourmet cuisine featuring fresh
produce and wines from the Martinborough region.
Local olive oil is a particular favorite as are the ugly
mushrooms, which are farmed nearby. Martinborough is known
internationally for its outstanding wines - most of which
are grown and made within walking distance of the hotel. A
perfect place to enjoy pre and post dinner drinks is in the
Red Room. Its intimate setting is characterized by the
classic style furniture and log fire warming the room in the
colder months. If a game of snooker is more your style, head
to the Malt Whisky Bar where there is a fine selection of
over 60 malts and an antique snooker table.
Things to
do
Martinborough is known internationally for its outstanding
wines – most of which are grown and made within walking
distance of Peppers Martinborough Hotel. The wine list
includes a comprehensive selection of varietals and vintages
from these great vineyards.
Less well known is the wonderful local produce, which
features in our Bistrot and Settlers Bar menus. Local olive
oil is a particular favorite as are the ugly mushrooms,
which are farmed nearby. Wairarapa lamb is a perfect match
for Martinborough Pinot Noir, and crayfish and whitebait
caught off the Wairarapa coast are a delight when
accompanied with a crisp local Sauvignon Blanc.
