Whether you’re taking a short break or on a longer expedition, the range of adventures is like everything else out here...endless.

The vast desert landscapes of Australia’s red heart are punctuated by a range of unique natural wonders. And there’s no better way to experience its richness than with Voyages Hotels & Resorts. Their prestigious properties offer an array of multi-award winning amenities and comforts in one of the most remote wilderness areas on earth.

Please be aware that as of 01 April 2006, the open bar will still be in operation, but will not be included in your tariff.

On Bedarra, you set your own agenda. There are many ways to fill the day but a beach picnic comes highly recommended. You set off by boat with a hamper fit for royalty to discover one of the many secluded bays. Bedarra often has more beaches then guests, so your privacy is assured.

Lizard Island – 5 star

Lizard Island is one of a kind - a work of nature's art. Located right on the Great Barrier Reef. It is a private paradise with 24 powdery white beaches. During his epic voyage of 1770, Captain James Cook climbed the peak on Lizard Island to chart a course out to sea through the maze of reefs which confronted him. Today Lizard Island offers an escape of a different kind. A unique vacation on the Great Barrier Reef's northern most island resort.

If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, then Lizard Island should be top of the list. This is without question, one of Australia's premier resorts. Being right on the Great Barrier Reef is rare enough, but Lizard Island offers the full spectrum - both the inner and outer Reef experiences.

Here you can snorkel off a secluded beach to discover a garden of giant clams, many a meter long and some reputed to be over 120 years old. And there are 23 more soft, powdery white beaches just waiting to be explored. Lizard Island is renowned for its diving. At the world famous 'Cod Hole', you'll come face to face with a massive yet curious Potato Cod swimming right up to inspect you with child-like curiosity.

Whilst the fish may not respect your privacy, we certainly will. In fact, they'll pack a picnic lunch for two and guide you to a 'private beach' to enjoy this magic location undisturbed. There are many magnificent walks, and on at least one you can expect to glimpse a Monitor, the lizard after which the island was named. Healthy appetites are then rewarded with superb dining - fresh local produce prepared with European and Asian influence.

You'll find all meals and most activities are included in the tariff and although remote, access is easy.

The reef experience on Heron is exclusively for guests, a unique experience few other resorts in the world can offer. There's a relaxed island lifestyle that sets Heron apart, a sophisticated yet casual resort atmosphere. Here the emphasis is on exploring and discovering the natural attractions that have made Heron famous around the world.

Dunk Island – 4 star

Dunk Island is Australia's most beautiful tropical rainforest island. This island of peace and plenty offers an amazing variety of activities, facilities and experiences. It was known to the first inhabitants as 'Coonanglebah' - the Island of Peace and Plenty. Today, Dunk Island continues to be Australia's most beautiful rainforest island.

With an enormous variety of activities to choose from, it's hard deciding what to do next. You could start the day with a rainforest walk and take in the spectacular views from the summit of Mt Kootaloo. After breakfast, explore one of the National Park walking trails through the rainforest and later perhaps a snorkel at Muggy Muggy Beach. During lunch you can plan the afternoon ahead. Perhaps some water skiing followed by a game of tennis. Or should that be kayaking followed by squash?

And that's just one day on Dunk Island. You've still got to fit in a trip to the Great Barrier Reef, a visit to the Artists' Colony, horse riding on the beach, and some fishing! But in between this frenzy of fun you'll still find time to relax and unwind.

Dunk has a variety of restaurants and eateries designed to match your mood. The Beachcomber Restaurant more than caters for all those a la carte cravings. Then there's EJ's on the Deck, an island favorite with a savvy sidewalk cafe style. And BB's on the Beach is great for a relaxing bite to eat. With a postcard view across the palm-fringed beach to distant islands, the Plantation Bar and Lounge is perfect for a quiet drink together.

For the family, Dunk is as good as it gets. The Kids Club has its own meal times and activities so that mum and dad can enjoy being a couple again. Imagine the freedom and romance of a sunset cruise, knowing that the kids are in safe hands and having a ball.

This is a superb escape with breathtaking scenery, cozy cabins, magnificent meals and days filled with simple pleasures.

The Lodge itself has an ambience of warmth and security that welcomes you to every room. Perhaps it's the glow of the open fires that keeps drawing you back or those quiet moments in the Guest's Lounge, catching up on local lore and history.
