and breathe it all in, or join an interpretive guide to
examine it from as close as you can get. An exhilarating
hike down into a hidden tropical garden. Touring with a bush
tucker expert. A helicopter ride over the gorges. You can

history, culture. Good old fashioned walks through a
fascinating wilderness, millions of years in the making.

expedition, the range of adventures is like everything else

Reef, Voyages’ flagship resort at Cape Tribulation is a
truly first class retreat, combining the wonder of the
natural world with the comfort of the modern.

perfectly positioned to make the most of picturesque
rainforest views. Rooms are comfortable with contemporary
cane and timber furniture.
Cape
Tribulation is one of nature's true paradises, and you will
be vacationing in one of the world's most remarkable
environments. Both the Daintree and The Great Barrier Reef
are World Heritage listed sites. The ancient forests of the
Daintree are home to 85 of the world's 120 rarest species of
plants, and thrive with native fauna - a living museum that
has barely changed over thousands of years. The Barrier Reef
is the world's largest coral formation, comprised of nearly
3000 separate reefs, made up of 400 different kinds of
coral. Its waters teem with spectacular marine life. Scuba
diving, snorkeling, sea kayaking, 4WD trips, horse rides,
rainforest walks and crocodile cruises are just some of the
adventures on offer.
Unwind in the most exquisite of natural surroundings without
sacrificing anything in the way of comfort. You'll find
four-star accommodation amidst wild surrounds, offering
private rainforest views with easy access to white-sand
Coconut Beach itself. The complex reef systems, just meters
from the beach, extend to Mackay and Undine Reefs, only 45
minutes offshore.
Ferntree Rainforest – 3 star
Here's an environment-friendly resort that's easy on the
visitor too. Set back in the heart of a lush coastal
rainforest, a short stroll from Cape Tribulation's beach and
its famous mangrove boardwalks, Ferntree Rainforest Lodge is
superb, affordable tropical getaway.
Named in 1770 by Captain Cook, for the trouble he ran into
before grounding his ship on a nearby reef, Cape Tribulation
is anything but that for visitors today. The experience now
is incomparable relaxation. A genuinely delightful holiday
is in store for you. You can bushwalk, horse-ride, kayak,
snorkel, fish in the estuaries or simply let go in one of
Australia's most beautiful settings.
The dense rainforest reaches all the way down to the coast
from rugged mountains rising in the west, with ancient,
exotic plant life bordering the waterfalls and clear jungle
streams. The area is home to some of the oldest species of
ferns, including the renowned Angiopteris, the largest in
the world.
Ferntree Rainforest Lodge makes the very best of this
setting, featuring low pitched buildings that are set
harmoniously within the vivid green landscape. The Lodge's
magnificent gardens are designed to attract the splendid
rainforest creatures. You can witness from your room the
operatic display of butterflies and birds unique to this
spectacular region.
Islands
One of
the seven natural wonders of the world and declared a World
Heritage Site, the Great Barrier Reef encompasses over
200,000 miles of the South Pacific Ocean, extends for more
than 1,200 miles and is the only natural organism visible
from space.
Voyages offers five unique island experiences from the top of
the reef at Lizard Island to Brampton Island at the bottom
of the Whitsunday Passage.
Bedarra
Island – 5 star
Bedarra
Island is an exclusive private hideaway. A romantic
rainforest retreat where a fortunate few can savor the finer
things in life. From luxurious accommodation and
mouth-watering cuisine to Bollinger champagne, it is all
here for your indulgence. There are times when you simply
don't wish to be found, when you need to escape and unwind.
Imagine a place where time is measured only by the passage
of the sun. Where you can do as you wish, when you wish.
That place is Bedarra, an exclusive haven catering to those
who desire a more civilized escape.
Your villa is one of sixteen hidden in the rainforest. The
view of the sunlight dancing across the water from your
balcony is almost hypnotic.
The food is simply exquisite, a standard our guests demand -
so there is a team of chefs and a new menu every day. The
superb seafood is always fresh, as if you caught it
yourself. And regardless of the time of day, the 24 hour
open bar tantalizes any taste with the finest selection of
Australian and imported beers, wine, spirits, liqueurs and
of course champagne. Please be aware that as of 01 April
2006, the open bar will still be in operation, but will not
be included in your tariff.
On Bedarra, you set your own agenda. There are many ways to
fill the day but a beach picnic comes highly recommended.
You set off by boat with a hamper fit for royalty to
discover one of the many secluded bays. Bedarra often has
more beaches then guests, so your privacy is assured.
Lizard
Island – 5 star
Lizard
Island is one of a kind - a work of nature's art. Located
right on the Great Barrier Reef. It is a private paradise
with 24 powdery white beaches. During his epic voyage of
1770, Captain James Cook climbed the peak on Lizard Island
to chart a course out to sea through the maze of reefs which
confronted him. Today Lizard Island offers an escape of a
different kind. A unique vacation on the Great Barrier
Reef's northern most island resort.
If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, then
Lizard Island should be top of the list. This is without
question, one of Australia's premier resorts. Being right on
the Great Barrier Reef is rare enough, but Lizard Island
offers the full spectrum - both the inner and outer Reef
experiences.
Here you can snorkel off a secluded beach to discover a
garden of giant clams, many a meter long and some reputed to
be over 120 years old. And there are 23 more soft, powdery
white beaches just waiting to be explored. Lizard Island is
renowned for its diving. At the world famous 'Cod Hole',
you'll come face to face with a massive yet curious Potato
Cod swimming right up to inspect you with child-like
curiosity.
Whilst the fish may not respect your privacy, we certainly
will. In fact, they'll pack a picnic lunch for two and guide
you to a 'private beach' to enjoy this magic location
undisturbed. There are many magnificent walks, and on at
least one you can expect to glimpse a Monitor, the lizard
after which the island was named. Healthy appetites are then
rewarded with superb dining - fresh local produce prepared
with European and Asian influence.
You'll find all meals and most activities are included in the
tariff and although remote, access is easy.
Heron
Island – 4 star
Heron
Island is a true coral cay right on the World Heritage
Listed Great Barrier Reef. Here you can swim straight off
the beach to an endless garden of coral where the waters are
literally teeming with beautifully colored fish and marine
life.
It's what you don't see around Heron that makes the resort so
special. You won't see any buildings above the tree line.
And you won't bump into any day trippers either. The reef
experience on Heron is exclusively for guests, a unique
experience few other resorts in the world can offer. There's
a relaxed island lifestyle that sets Heron apart, a
sophisticated yet casual resort atmosphere. Here the
emphasis is on exploring and discovering the natural
attractions that have made Heron famous around the world.
You'll enjoy some of the world's best reef diving. There's a
choice of spectacular sites just minutes from the beach, and
can you imagine a better place to learn to dive?
Join a guided reef walk to learn more about the unique
ecology of the Great Barrier Reef or snorkel off the beach
and come face to face with the kaleidoscope of marine life
just below the surface. Enjoy a day trip to explore an
idyllic, uninhabited coral cay or spend the day just lazing
by the pool.
At night there's live entertainment, dancing or a quiet drink
at the Pandanus Lounge. On Heron, all meals are included in
your tariff and you'll find a range of accommodation to suit
your budget.
As you would expect, Heron takes great pride in maintaining
the highest standards of food and service. Heron is
renowned for its abundance of birdlife with dense Pisonia
forests which are home to thousands of Noddy Terns.
Dunk
Island – 4 star
Dunk Island
is Australia's most beautiful tropical rainforest island.
This island of peace and plenty offers an amazing variety of
activities, facilities and experiences. It was known to the
first inhabitants as 'Coonanglebah' - the Island of Peace
and Plenty. Today, Dunk Island continues to be Australia's
most beautiful rainforest island.
With an enormous variety of activities to choose from, it's
hard deciding what to do next. You could start the day with
a rainforest walk and take in the spectacular views from the
summit of Mt Kootaloo. After breakfast, explore one of the
National Park walking trails through the rainforest and
later perhaps a snorkel at Muggy Muggy Beach. During lunch
you can plan the afternoon ahead. Perhaps some water skiing
followed by a game of tennis. Or should that be kayaking
followed by squash?
And that's just one day on Dunk Island. You've still got to
fit in a trip to the Great Barrier Reef, a visit to the
Artists' Colony, horse riding on the beach, and some
fishing! But in between this frenzy of fun you'll still find
time to relax and unwind.
Dunk has a variety of restaurants and eateries designed to
match your mood. The Beachcomber Restaurant more than caters
for all those a la carte cravings. Then there's EJ's on the
Deck, an island favorite with a savvy sidewalk cafe style.
And BB's on the Beach is great for a relaxing bite to eat.
With a postcard view across the palm-fringed beach to
distant islands, the Plantation Bar and Lounge is perfect
for a quiet drink together.
For the family, Dunk is as good as it gets. The Kids Club has
its own meal times and activities so that mum and dad can
enjoy being a couple again. Imagine the freedom and romance
of a sunset cruise, knowing that the kids are in safe hands
and having a ball.
